Commitments

I want to commit to having a better quality of life for myself. I tend to take on more than I should and work numerous hours, both day and night. I am in academia and have been surprised how consumed one can get.

I plan to take time each day for myself... and this will take many different forms from more rest or exercise, a manicure or reading. I will carve out minutes or hours depending on my need.

Holy Name Medical Center is committed to having 10% of our nurses join ANA's Healthy Nurse Healthy Nation Grand Challenge!

The whole health care arena has changed so drastically over my nursing career, that I would LOVE to be able to get out of it and start in a whole new profession (can you say personal organizer?).  Unfortunately, the cost of living and debts prevent me from changing careers this late in life.  Health care has become wealth care where places want money up ...

I commit to spending at least one hour each day in an activity that brings me joy.

The big picture is to improve QOL and for me this is a big goal. I don't give up easily, but right now my work and life balance needs attention. I do know that I can make some work changes next year in summer of 2019. However, if my current work stress worsens and I feel that I am NOT part of the problem, I do have some other options. I need to keep my self-care and ...

Commitment to improve the quality of life for self and others

Quality of life is essential. Commit to a healthy life, good habits, family/friends, diet, mentality, spiritual, holistic well-being.

I commit to leaving work at my scheduled time to allow for more time at home.

I commit to getting 7-8 hours of sleep each night, and NOT using my cell phone while in bed.

My main focus will be to increase my quality of life. Committing to spending more time with my husband and family. Taking vacation time. Turning 60 in June and planning for monthly adventures for the entire year. Have not vacationed in many years and need to devote as much time to my life outside of work as I do to my work. This will be a challenge for me.

I am committed to remaining positive, exercising often, and dealing with any stressful issues as they occur in order to remain emotionally healthy and unencumbered.  It is my choice to pursue emotional health and a strong positive attitude each day.

Now that I am less stressed with work responsibilities, I commit to spending more quality time with my husband, family and friends and (within reasonable bounds) doing things that I have dreamed of doing for a long time.

I commit to being thankful for each day that I am gifted. I commit to being a positive example for others and being thankful for all the blessings in my life.

I plan to do one thing each day that will assist with a set goal for the year

I will be a better healthier role model for my kids and my patients. I do feel hypocritical teaching healthy maintenance behaviors to my patients when I do not "look the part".

I plan to work on myself.  I have dedicated my entire life to my husband and children (which I still will, but I will begin to include myself).

I am committed to being healthy in healthcare, I will be mindful of my needs and strive to maintain self care

I challenged the other Education Specialist in my office last year to keep a gratitude journal for 30 days where they concentrated on 3 things each day that they were grateful for without repeating any items. I am going to use that concept; but for this challenge I will concentrate on 3 reasons each day that I want to make the healthier lifestyle changes to ...
