Day 1 —  Recognize Your Influence

Welcome to day 1 of the Mentor in Motion Challenge: Leading by Example Every Day.

Mentorship often happens before we recognize it. The way you communicate, respond under pressure, approach a challenge, ask for help, acknowledge a mistake, or support a colleague can influence the people around you.

Others may be learning from how you work even when you are not intentionally teaching. That influence does not require perfection. Everyday leadership can be reflected in curiosity, professionalism, respect, accountability, compassion, and a willingness to keep learning.

Recognizing your influence is the first step toward becoming more intentional about what you model

Your Action for Today

Reflect on how you show up during an ordinary workday.

Consider:

  • What behaviors might others see you model?
  • How do you respond when someone asks for help?
  • How do you handle uncertainty or mistakes?
  • How do you communicate when you are busy or under pressure?
  • What is one quality you hope others experience when working with you?

You do not need to change everything today. Simply notice.

Awareness can help you recognize the example you are already setting and where you may want to be more intentional.

Day 2 sneak peek: Practice listening before stepping in with advice or solutions.
