Rest is the Key to a Healthy Nurse
Published
As a nursing student, I've observed and witnessed how important it is to prioritize rest/sleep. I noticed when I get 7-8 hours of sleep everyday my body, mind, and spirit feels refreshed especially in the clinical setting. We tend to get overwhelmed by the stressor's of nursing school as a student and nurse's themselves that we forget how important rest/recovery is to the body. Especially, to be able to provide adequate patient-centered care to our patient's. I personally believe that rest is the key to a healthy nurse because it establishes the foundation of discipline and allows for better care of the patient and the nurse's well-being. When I become a nurse one day I will aspire to be a healthy nurse. I also track my sleep cycle's when I sleep so that I can identify my sleep quality and make improvements as needed.
