Commitment to Physical Activity
Published
Physical activity has always played an important role in helping me manage stress and decompress. After playing sports for a majority of my life, I continued to allow physical activity as part of my routine throughout college when possible. However, since starting night shift clinicals during my final semester of nursing school, I have found it more challenging to prioritize physical activity as consistently as I once did. The irregular schedule and fatigue associated with night shifts often make it difficult to maintain a structured exercise routine. On my days off, I plan to make an effort to incorporate physical activity whenever possible, whether that includes going for an outdoor walk, running, or working out at the gym. I have also noticed that exposure to sunlight is limited while working night shifts, which can impact both energy levels and overall well-being. Because of this, I try to spend time outdoors during the day when I can, as I believe sunlight and adequate vitamin D are important for maintaining both physical and mental health.
