Meet the American Heart Association's Weekly Goal for Activity
Published
Everyone knows that 'health is wealth' isn't just a saying,
It's a way of living.
According to the American Heart Association the recommends that adults get at least 150 minutes (2.5 hrs.) of moderate aerobic activity in per week. According to the AHA only about 1 in 5 adults/teens get the level of exercise they need. There are little goals we can start with, but I think that beginning with an achievable goal such as reaching the minimum recommended amount for physical aerobic activity.
There also are additional recommendations, such as getting at least 75 minutes/week of vigorous aerobic physical activity, as well as adding at least two days of weightlifting. The AHA recommends that even if you have a sedentary life now, that simply sitting less is a great place to start your fitness journey.
I want to commit to starting here. I think that even in the busiest of schedules it is manageable to fit at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity in per day, and 2 days/week of weightlifting is decently manageable. I have chosen to start here, but anyone could start a little below or above this recommendation depending on physical abilities and fitness levels.

@Deryn Young Excellent commitment! Thank you for providing the AHA info too! I've been working on keeping up the aerobic exercise and it was a good reminder to get more strength training involved! You've got this!
