Assess Your Starting Point — What Is Your Mental Health Status?

There are many aspects of mental health that contribute to your sense of well-being. Each person experiences mental health challenges differently, based on biological, social, and environmental factors. Understanding the issues you’re facing can help focus your gratitude, positivity, and physical exercises for maximum impact throughout this challenge.

Your Action for Today
Before you begin your first 1-5-5 exercises, take a moment to assess your mental health. If there is a particular area you’d like to improve, keep that in mind while you practice:
  • 1 minute of gratitude: Write down any 3 things you’re grateful for (large or small) and why. How does each play a role in your well-being?
  • 5 minutes of positive reflection: Read a collection of uplifting inspirational quotes that focus on areas of your life you’d like to improve. For example, check out these 50 quotes to raise your spirits.
  • 5 minutes of physical movement: Engage in gentle stretches to relieve tension, improve circulation, and calm your mind. For guidance and examples, follow this 5-minute stretching routine.
