Know Your Baseline Hydration Level

Everyone knows drinking (enough) water every day is critical for many aspects of health. Staying hydrated improves body temperature regulation, lubricates your joints, and helps your organs function. It’s great for your skin and can boost your mood and sleep quality.

Yet, according to the National Council on Aging, up to 75% of people don’t drink enough water. Could you be one of them? There’s only 1 way to find out.

Time to track your water intake! (You can’t change what you don’t measure.)

Your Action for Today

Make a record everything you drink today, and when you drink it. This includes water, coffee, soda, juice, alcohol, etc. If it’s a liquid, count it! Use a note-taking app on your phone or even a sticky note.

Look for patterns in your drinking habits. Are there times of the day you’re more likely to forget to hydrate? Do you notice a difference in your focus, energy levels, or mood when you drink less?

Bonus Action: Enlist an accountability partner! Invite a team member to track their hydration habits, too. Compare your results and commit to maintaining proper hydration or making a positive change (if needed). It’s easier to establish healthy new routines with a friend.
