How Do You Restore and Recharge Your Energy?: Pause to reflect on what truly helps you feel renewed — Healthy Nurse Healthy Nation™ The Power of Nurses: Recharge & Rise Challenge, sponsored by Humana — Day 9
Day 9 — Restoration and Recharging Energy
Rest is not one-size-fits-all. While sleep is essential, restoration can also come from activities that help you feel grounded, calm, and re-energized.
For many nurses, true renewal happens in small, intentional moments—stepping outside, listening to music, moving your body, or simply creating space to pause. These practices help replenish emotional and mental energy, not just physical fatigue.
These moments of restoration are how we actively recharge throughout our day, not just overnight.
Restoration is personal. What restores one person may feel like effort to another. The goal is not to do more, but to identify what genuinely helps you feel renewed.
Your Action for Today
Identify one activity that helps you feel restored. This might include:
- Taking a short walk
- Listening to music Sitting in silence
- Reading for a few minutes
- Gentle movement or stretching
- Spending time outdoors
- Connecting with a colleague, friend, family member, or pet
Then ask yourself:
-
When was the last time I did this?
-
How can I incorporate this, even briefly, into my routine?
Start small. Even a few intentional minutes can shift your energy and improve how you show up for yourself and others.
Bonus: The Optimity app offers a short, interactive quiz connected to today’s focus on restoration and recharging energy. It’s a space to pause, reflect on what truly helps you feel renewed during your day, and build awareness — at your own pace.
