Today is day 1 of the Work (Out) From Home challenge, powered by Humana!  

Ditch the elevator and opt for the stairs! How many times do you think you went up and down stairs today? Take a guess, and try to top it tomorrow.

Revving up your heart rate, even just a little bit, is healthy. It teaches your body to move oxygen and blood to your muscles more efficiently. It also burns calories faster and lowers your blood pressure. So, if you feel winded after climbing the stairs — don’t be discouraged! Remember that you’re doing your body good. Do your legs (and heart) a favor and get your blood pumping! 

Don’t have stairs nearby? Use the restroom located farthest from you, or try walking at a faster pace. It’s another easy way to fire up your muscles and get your heart pumping. 

Tell us how many times you took the stairs or use an app on your smartphone to track how many extra steps you get in here. Better yet show us! Post a video in our private Facebook group, or on Twitter, or Instagram and tag us with #healthynurse.

KristaRN‍ The tips go out around 8PM EST. Once they do there are links in the message and these pages get updated to have a link to the next day. Up top it says "Join us on day 2." now :)

Howdy nurse family!

I used to work out 6 days a week pre-COVID (started avoiding humans in Feb), became sad, frustrated and found not myself not caring for myself, and then became ill for 2 weeks (for a total for 3 months of not loving my body. Now 97% back to normal! I started small and downloaded a 30 day butt & splits (phone app) challenge. I'm 7 days in to those and just started a Denise Austin 10 day challenge (Kicked my butt)!!! 
Now working out every morning before work and it is such a great way to start my days!

Find small ways to get to love yourself and your body! Keep pushing for yourself, your family/friends and you patients! Keep it up!

I live in a single story house. One way I have been trying to add a few more steps is when I fold and put away laundry - I fold in the family room and walk just what I can comfortably carry back to each room to put it away. I end up making several trips. Every little bit helps!
