Consider A Mocktail Offering At The Next Holiday Meal
Published
Welcome to Day 7 of the Healthy Holidays Challenge, powered by Compass One Healthcare!
It’s easy for calories to add up at holiday gatherings, especially when there’s alcohol involved. But drinking your calories isn’t as beneficial for your body from a nutrition standpoint — and it’s certainly not as filling.
One small step you can make to improve your diet this holiday season is to lower your alcohol intake by either opting for water or having a mocktail instead. You’ll be able to use those saved calories on nutrient-dense foods that keep you feeling satisfied longer.
If you choose a mocktail, remember that some recipes are loaded with sugar. When possible, opt for an alcohol-free drink that uses natural fruit juices and lower amounts of sugar.
Here are a few mocktail ideas you can make in bulk for your next holiday gathering:
- Frozen berries with lemon-lime seltzer or flavored water
- Caramel apple pie mocktail with apple cider, caramel syrup, and cinnamon
- Strawberry sparkling water with basil seeds or chia seeds
- Cranberry, orange and apple juice mixed together
