Treat Yourself, In Moderation
Published
Welcome to Day 8 of the Healthy Holidays Challenge, powered by Compass One Healthcare!
You can’t give up your favorite treats and sweets cold turkey (nor should you). You will be much more successful in your effort to eat healthier if you don’t deprive yourself of foods you love. Today, we’re encouraging you to treat yourself sparingly.
Do you love chocolate? Have one small piece at the end of a long day — and stop there. If salty potato chips are your go-to, measure one serving size and stick to it. It’s OK to treat yourself to your beloved foods as long as you’re not going overboard.
This holiday season, use this same mentality as you attend events and gatherings. Allow yourself a treat here and there but be mindful of how much and how often. Prioritize moderation with high-calorie foods, desserts, and drinks.
For more information on using moderation in a healthy diet, read about two of our healthy nurses:
- Matthew S. Howard: Nurse uses moderation to improve his body, mind, and soul.
- Liisa Dewhurst: Nurse focuses on moderation and everyday exercise to instill a healthy lifestyle.
