Four Ways to Offer a Stranger Kindness - Healthy Nurse, Healthy Nation - Sustain Humanity with Kindness Challenge - Day 3
Offer Kindness to a Stranger
Now that you’ve nourished yourself with kindness and compassion, it’s time to share this same goodwill with others.
A random act of kindness is a gesture of goodwill with no expectation of reward or payment from the recipient. The act itself produces a “reward” by boosting oxytocin and serotonin (“feel-good” hormones) and reducing stress and
anxiety.
Practicing random acts of kindness can also create a domino effect. People who receive or witness an act of kindness are more likely to follow suit and “pay it forward.” It’s a win-win for humanity!
