Day 2 — Sleep Protects Your Health

Sleep is not only about feeling rested. It plays a critical role in cardiovascular health, immune function, metabolic regulation, and emotional stability.

For nurses, irregular schedules, rotating shifts, and demanding workloads can disrupt natural sleep rhythms. Over time, chronic sleep disruption increases the risk of hypertension, cardiovascular disease, mood changes, and impaired concentration.

Protecting sleep is therefore both a personal health strategy and a professional safety practice. When nurses are adequately rested, they are better able to think clearly, respond quickly, and maintain emotional balance during challenging situations.

Your Action for Today

Take a moment to evaluate your sleep habits.

  • Identify your average hours of sleep per night

  • Set a realistic sleep target for tonight

  • Choose one behavior that may improve sleep quality

This might include limiting caffeine later in the day, dimming lights earlier, or creating a consistent bedtime routine.

Small adjustments made consistently can gradually improve sleep patterns, support recovery, and help restore your energy over time.

Join us on day 3: A sneak peek - Create a simple wind-down ritual that prepares your body for rest.
