How Creating Belonging Supports Connection, Well‑Being, and Psychological Safety — Healthy Nurse Healthy Nation™ From Me to We: The Power of Connection Challenge — Day 3
Day 3 — Creating Belonging
Belonging is the experience of feeling accepted, included, and valued. It is closely connected to quality of life and can influence how people participate, communicate, and seek support.
In healthcare environments, belonging also supports psychological safety. When people feel included and respected, they may be more comfortable asking questions, offering ideas, or raising concerns.
Belonging is shaped by everyday actions. It is created through how people listen, include, acknowledge, and respond to one another.
Your Action for Today
Choose one way to help someone feel included today. Consider:
- Greet someone by name
- Invite someone into a conversation
- Ask a quieter colleague for their perspective
- Include someone in a plan or decision
- Notice who may be left out and make space for them
Consider what helps you feel like you belong, and how you can offer that same experience to someone else.
Join us on day 4: A sneak peek - Practice listening as a tool for connection and trust.
