Day 7 —  Beyond the Role

Quality of life includes who you are beyond your role.

Nursing can be meaningful, but professional responsibility should not be the only source of identity, purpose, or connection. Relationships outside of work can help restore perspective, support joy, and reinforce the parts of life that are not defined by productivity or responsibility.

Connection beyond work can include family, friends, neighbors, faith communities, hobbies, cultural groups, or social circles.

Your Action for Tonight
Choose one non-work connection to nurture. You might consider the following:

  • Call or text a friend
  • Plan time with family
  • Attend a community activity
  • Reconnect with a hobby or interest group
  • Reach out to someone you have been meaning to contact
  • Spend uninterrupted time with someone who matters to you

Consider which relationships help you feel most like yourself. Those relationships are part of your well-being.
