The Breakroom: Support for Healthcare Workers and Public Service Providers

Published
Self-care is my passion! I am so glad I found this! We can't take care of others if we can't take care of ourselves first!! My mission is to spread the importance of self-care for those that serve the public, nurses, police, teachers, etc.
I thought I was the only one seeing this essential need in the workplace. Burnout is all too real but does not have to be!
I recently created a Facebook page called "The Breakroom: Support for Healthcare Workers and Public Service Providers" in an attempt to spread the word of self-care. We all too often put ourselves last on the list, let us not become our patients!
I can not wait to tell my colleges in the ICU about Healthy Nurse Healthy Nation!
Thank you Thank you Thank you

I have started doing more than just saying I would put myself first.  I realize I don't really know what this means but this last 5 weeks, I have been studying in school and learning a lot more about this.  Two things I am changing---a mindfulness based stress reduction program is really helping me let go of chronic anxiety and a need to be a certain way or have things turn out how I want.  The second thing is listening to my own voice---it is too easy for others to define me.  I have started sticking up for myself more and it feels good:)

I agree with you 1000%! We cannot take care of others if we don't take care of ourselves. You have an excellent mission 2TheBreakroom‍ and I would love to spread the importance as well. I'll check out your facebook page (:
I thought I was the only nurse who believes that nurse's health is just as important as the health of the population we serve. This is WONDERFUL!
