Healthy Nurse, Healthy Nation - Find Your Balance Challenge - Day 2 Tip - Save Time For Reflection

Welcome to day 2 of the Find Your Balance challenge.

It’s hard to accurately gauge how you feel about your life if you don’t have time to think about it. Today, try to add quiet and stillness to your day. Use that time to assess what aspects of your work and home life make you feel fulfilled and what drains you.
  • Instead of watching TV until you fall asleep, lie in silence for a few minutes before drifting off.
  • Turn off music or podcasts during your commute so you can reflect.
  • Exercise without headphones or distractions so you can think about what makes you happy.

How do you add reflection time into your day? Share with us in our discussion or in our Facebook group

One habit I have been cultivating is a calmer "end of day" or pre-sleep routine. To that end I have reduced or cut my TV time in the evening significantly and have noticed better quality & quantity of sleep when combined with a more stable sleep & wake time. I am fortunate that I actually enjoy quiet and being without distraction and like being with my thoughts at that time. Although I also enjoy playing smooth jazz when working or upbeat music when exercising at times too. Variety and balance. Music can be a powerful mod shifter when needed to calm or energize but as an aid to health not a barrier to it.
I tend to have my reflection time in the shower!  It's a nice quiet time, with the hot water running, just to think of the day!
Every night when I go to sleep I make sure to complete 15 minutes of mindful meditation
