February is American Heart Month, a time when the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) encourages people to pay extra attention to their cardiovascular health. One of the best ways to take care of your heart is through healthy bouts of exercise on a regular basis. If you want your heart to be as strong as it can be, you’ve got to make it work.

The American Heart Association suggests at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity (or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity) each week. You could also do a combination of moderate (e.g., brisk walking) and vigorous (e.g., running) activity. To get there, focus on less sitting and more moving in a way that steadily increases your heart rate.

That doesn’t mean you have to run for hours every day — even short sessions of moderate physical activity can add up to help keep your circulatory system healthy. It’s true, a strong body of research supports the health benefits of mini workouts.

We know you’re busy and don’t have tons of free time to spend exercising. That’s why during this 10 day challenge, we’ll offer quick and easy ways to incorporate physical activity into your daily routine. The goal: Get your blood flowing and keep your heart strong.

Let’s get your heart pumped up!

Warning: Please consult with your medical provider before engaging in strenuous cardiovascular activity.
