Being an advocate is a critical part of being a nurse. As a nurse, you advocate for your patients’ best interests every day — they are at the center of all you do. However, we aren’t always as good at advocating for our own needs. One way to do that is to take a stand on the important issues that affect us.
ANA has dedicated 2018 as the Year of Advocacy to recognize the impact nurses have from the #bedsideandbeyond as well as encourage nurses to expand their advocacy efforts. If you’ve been waiting to engage with the public policy process, now’s the time! There are key issues impacting nurses and patients that you can have a say in changing. Learn more about the Code of Ethics for Nurses which includes our profession's promise to provide and advocate for safe, quality care for all patients and communities.
Over this 10 day challenge, we’ll share simple tips to help you take action on the issues that matter to you. This challenge will include the #BedsideandBeyond twitter chat and culminate with ANA’s Hill Day, an annual event where nurses from around the country visit Capitol Hill to talk to their representatives about issues that have an impact on nurses and their patients. Starts June 11. Sign up today! Click “Yes” under “Ready to Join?” above to get started.
