Drink Before (and After) Exercise
Do you try to exercise on a regular basis? That’s great! You’ve got this healthy lifestyle habit down — now let’s add to it. If you don’t exercise regularly, that’s OK — you can double up on your healthy habits today.
Any time you exercise — whether it’s a quick 10-minute walk around campus or a sweat-inducing HIIT workout — drink a glass of water. Have one glass before your workout begins and another after it ends. Doing this will fuel your body with energy-giving hydration before your workout and revive you afterward.
Dehydration during your workout can cause muscle fatigue and loss of coordination, making exercise harder. You’re doing your body a favor by hydrating it before you put it to work. Drinking water immediately after exercising will replenish your body with the hydration it lost through sweat. It’s a win-win.
Think of today’s task as adding on to an already-healthy habit of exercising. You’re doing fantastic — keep up the good work.
