Be An Advocate For Change
Published
It's day 6 of the #ENDNURSEABUSE challenge.
Whether or not you’ve witnessed workplace violence personally, you are on the front lines. Registered nurses are 4.3 million strong — when each nurse becomes an advocate for change, real change can occur.
Lawmakers in Washington need to hear about the issues affecting the well-being of nurses like you. Here’s how to reach out to lawmakers to #EndNurseAbuse:
- Learn who your member of Congress is and where they stand on safety issues. Most members' websites include their voting records, committee assignments, caucus memberships, and bills they support. Use the House of Representatives’ website and enter your ZIP code.
- Send a personal email to your representative advocating for change related to workplace violence. Include a personal story if you have one that you’re willing to share. You can use RNAction.org’s Issue Action Center to send the message.
- In addition to your story, include your name, profession, where you live, and a specific ask. Tell your congressperson to support H.R.1195 - Workplace Violence Prevention for Health Care and Social Service Workers Act.
