You already know how hydration impacts brain health. To double the benefits for your brain today, let’s combine hydration with meditation.
Research shows that meditation can lower everyday anxiety by as much as 39%. In the study, brain scans showed meditation reduced perception of pain and experiences of anxiety. To reap these rewards, fill up your water bottle, set aside a few minutes, and find a quiet place to meditate.
Try this 3-minute guided meditation from the National Center on Health, Physical Activity, and Disability (NCHPAD). As you meditate, take a sip of water every 10-15 seconds. Focus your thoughts on the meditation while pausing to hydrate throughout. By the end of the meditation, you should have made some headway toward your hydration goal today.
