Hydrate With Music - Water for Wellness challenge, powered by Compass One Healthcare - Day 9 Tip

Published
You know that feel-good emotion you get when your favorite song comes on the radio? Music has the power to lift our spirits in a matter of seconds. Research proves that music has a positive effect on brain health as well as our emotional well-being by:
  • Boosting the immune system
  • Evoking memories
  • Improving cognitive skills
  • Lowering stress
  • Reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety

Not only can music fuel your brain, but hydration can, too. Let’s take advantage of the cognitive benefits of music + proper hydration. Fill up your water bottle then play your favorite song or playlist. As the music plays, slowly sip your water every few seconds. Think about how the music and the water make you feel. Sit with those feelings for a few moments.

For more inspiration, see how #healthynurse and immediate past ANA President Ernest Grant, PhD, RN, FAAN, uses music to relax.
