Start Small, Joyful Rituals - Healthy Nurse, Healthy Nation - Find Your Balance challenge - Day 4

What brings you joy? And do you have enough of it in your life?

If you need more, today’s goal is to incorporate small, joyful rituals into your routine. This will enhance your overall well-being and create a more balanced work-life dynamic. Joyful, intentional practices give you a momentary escape from the demands of your nursing responsibilities and contribute to a healthier mindset.

To do this, focus on something that brings you happiness and peace. Consider any of these examples as a starting point:
  • Ask (and answer) a daily gratitude question.
  • Savor a warm cup of herbal tea or coffee during breaks.
  • Take brief walks to connect with nature and recharge.
  • Tell your coworkers what you appreciate about them.
  • Dedicate at least 15 minutes a day to a hobby you enjoy.
  • Call a loved one, maybe someone who makes you laugh, and spend at least 10 minutes catching up with them.
  • Before you go to sleep, write down the 3 things that made you happy that day.

To make the activity a ritual, try to do it every day. Over time, it’ll start to feel like a healthy habit — one you don’t want to go without.
