According to the CDC, taking your eyes off the road for as little as five seconds is long enough to drive the length of an entire football field.

As we start the No More Distracted Driving challenge. Today's tip is to set yourself up for safety. Before you pull out of your driveway or a parking space today, ensure you are ready to drive without distraction. Here’s how:

 
  • Make sure your phone’s Bluetooth is on, so you can accept or make hands-free calls in case of emergency
  • Check if your cell phone has a “do not disturb” feature and turn it on
  • Put directions into a GPS
  • Queue up any music, podcast, or radio station you want to listen to while you drive
  • Have toll money or passes easily accessible
  • Make sure children are buckled in securely and have any entertainment or snacks they need
  • Ensure pets are in a safe spot and secure, so they cannot roam around the car
