Taking Work Stress Home With You?

It's day 2 of the Stress Less challenge.

Today's tip is make meaningful transitions. Whether you feel stressed at home, at work, or just everywhere this time of year, take a few moments to decompress before you transition to a new environment. Play a favorite song before you get out of the car or take a few deep breaths before you walk through your front door at a hectic time of day.

How do you de-stress after your shift? Tell us in our challenge thread. Don't forget to post a photo in in our Facebook group or on Twitter or Instagram. Remember to mention @HealthyNurseUSA and tag us with #healthynurse.

I like to decompress in the car before exiting to work or wherever. I also drink a lot of water, sipping on car rides. I go directly to the bathroom to breath, pee, and feel ready to take on the new adventure.

I used to call my mother on my way home but I found I was stressing her out more with my frustrations of the day. Now I listen to music and sing or a podcast on midfulness on the way home.

I like to listen to a podcast or something interesting.  It takes my mind off the stress of work before hitting the door to my house!

I like the idea of decompressing. I’m looking forward to the suggestions.

Like mentioned above, I also like to sit in my car and take a moment to myself before leaving or going into my destination. It helps me to relax and helps me to collect myself. I usually finish listening to a song a like, or sometimes take a little look through my phone. My toddler also likes being in the car, sometimes when we get somewhere we sit for minute and I let her know all we're going to do at that location.
