Use Your New Free Time Wisely

We hope that the challenge has been helpful in supporting you to decreasing your screen time. If you’ve successfully cut down on screens then you may have up to 3 or more hours on your hands. Finding different use of that time may help you from returning to your screens now that the challenge is over. Creating hobbies and other recurring activities to fill this time is a great way to prevent this.

Here are some suggestions:
  • Get active.  Try a new type of exercise, walk the dog or the spouse/partner!
  • Visit the library and read that book you’ve been hearing about.
  • Volunteer at your place of worship, your kid’s school, local nursing home, homeless shelter, or wherever you feel a particular calling.  Nurses are perennial favorites at all of these places.
  • Start a new hobby.  Spelunking, crocheting, chess, go for it.
  • Learn.  Now is the time to take a class in conversational Spanish or go back to school.
  • Visit your favorite people.
  • Start a journal.
  • Do some food prep.
  • Declutter your home and work area.
