Today is day 3 of the Work (Out) From Home, powered by Humana!

The next time you hear your jam and can’t resist grooving to the music, smile while knowing you’re doing your body good. Dancing is a full body workout, and that means it benefits your:

  • Cardiovascular health
  • Flexibility, balance, and strength
  • Mental health

This is also the perfect activity to enjoy with loved ones, especially young children who squeal at the chance for a family dance party. Shake it off in your living room to some feel-good music. Get your heart pumping while making memories with the people you care about most. Find a dance playlist on Spotify, YouTube, or join a live dance party on Instagram (here's one!).

While on a break at work, play an upbeat song on your phone and invite a coworker or two to dance it out. Nurses are doing this all over the country to highlight their unity, offer a sense of community, spotlight specific cause, or show that COVID-19 can’t dim our spirits. Use this time to not only move your body, but relieve tension and stress. If your organization allows it, share the fun on social media.

How have you been staying active at home this week? Let us know here or better yet post a video and show us (we'd love to see you dancing to your jam)! Post in our private Facebook group, or on Twitter, or Instagram and tag us with #healthynurse!

Find this helpful? Use the social media links on the left side of your page to share it with a nurse and invite them to join Healthy Nurse, Healthy Nation!

Missed day 2? Catch up here. Join us on day 4.

I don't have a ton of room in my apartment to dance but I do love dance exercises. A huge fan of Tracy Anderson (remember her?) and have her trampoline I still use. You can dance on a trampoline believe it or not! It's more apartment friendly than stomping on the floor if you live on the second floor like I do! Cheers!

No dancing, but lots of bobbing and weaving, bending and twisting involved today. Had our upper community field brushed (air smells great of fresh cut grass!) then I came in with a chainsaw to cut back small trees at the edge of the fence line, revealing the old stone wall in all its glory. Wrapped up with a short run. Exercise is easier on days when I don’t have a shift!
