Get Your Hands Dirty…in The Garden
Published
Welcome to day 3 of the Decompress – Where’s Your Happy Place? powered by Compass One
The weather is warmer, the sun is shining, and the grass is green. It’s the perfect time of year to get outside and plant something. Did you know that planting and gardening benefits both your physical and mental health? It’s known to:
- Boost your mood
- Strengthen your muscles and bones
- Improve memory
- Lower stress
- Reduce anxiety
Dedicate 15 to 30 minutes spending time outdoors planting something — a tree, flowers, an herb garden, or even a vegetable garden. Depending on your space, the amount of sunlight, and how much time you have, you can choose what works best for you. If you don’t have an appropriate outdoor space, grab a pot and plant something that thrives indoors, such as succulents, spider plants, or peace lilies. As long as you’re digging in the dirt and planting something, you’re sure to reap the rewards mentioned above.
What did you plant? Let us know in the challenge update thread here or on Facebook.
