The past year of the pandemic has taken a toll on our mental health. Throughout times of stress, we need opportunities to unwind and express ourselves through creative outlets. In fact, research from Cleveland Clinic found that creativity helps those who’ve experienced trauma by reducing the shame, anger, or depression they feel. Yes, that includes the experiences of many of you who have been working on the frontlines of the pandemic.

Today is your opportunity. Mark on your calendar a block of time to do something creative. You could try:
  • Art therapy
  • Poetry or creative writing
  • Scrapbooking
  • Knitting or embroidery
  • Making flower arrangements
  • Singing or dancing
  • Playing a musical instrument
     
The best part about being creative is that there’s no wrong way to do it. Find an activity you enjoy and let the creativity flow — no judgement, no critiques, no scorecard. Use the time to get in the zone and unwind.
