When You Take A Break Today Get Outside
Published
Feeling fresh air on your skin and in your lungs is good for your body and mind. Something as simple as taking a walk in the woods can improve your memory and reduce mental clutter that causes:
- Stress
- Anxiety
- Depression
If you want to improve your mental health during this challenge, today’s tip is for you. Step outside and find a peaceful, scenic place to walk. It could be a nearby trail, a park, a friendly neighborhood, or even a stroll along a body of water. As you walk, keep these guidelines in mind:
- No screens; put your phone in your pocket or purse
- Keep conversation to a minimum if someone is joining you
- Concentrate on your senses by noticing what you hear, smell, see, and feel
- Walk as short or as long as you’d like
Even if it’s just for 10 or 15 minutes, a quiet walk through nature can help you declutter your mind and organize your thoughts. It’s a great way to gain more mental clarity.
Want to take it up a notch? Try forest bathing — a type of outdoor meditation.
