It's day 3 of the Curb Your Sweet Tooth challenge!

We hope you have been sussing out your food labels looking for sneaky sources of sugar. As we mentioned in yesterday's tip, don't forget to look at the ingredients as well for the names we mentioned! Most packaged foods contain some form of sugar to increase flavor. Ketchup, tomato sauce, canned fruit, and cereal bars all contain added sugar.

In fact, The New York Times reports that of the 600,000 food items for sale in America, about 80 percent contain added sugar AND low-fat versions of foods tend to be jam-packed with... you guessed it... the sweet stuff. As fat is removed, more flavor is added with sugar and other sweeteners. Consider switching to brands that pack in less sugar or consider making these foods at home instead. Here are some recipes for low-sugar condimentsdesserts, and snacks

What are your tricks for avoiding sugar laden products? Also let us know how you did yesterday in our discussion or on Facebook, and join us on day 4!
