It is day 4 of the FulFILL Your Cup challenge, powered by CeraVe.

Today we’re challenging you to tap into your positive traits to enjoy greater happiness. Research shows that thinking about personal strengths can increase joy and reduce depression.

What are your personal strengths? For example, do you have a strong sense of creativity, perseverance, compassion, modesty, or curiosity?

Pick one strength that stands out to you. Take a few moments to think about how you can use that trait today. For example, if you have a lot of perseverance, you might make a list of some challenging tasks you want to complete, then tackle one of them.

Write down the personal strength you plan to focus on today and how you’ll use it. Act on the strength, really incorporate it as much as you can throughout your day.

Here’s another example to get you moving in the right direction. If compassion is one of your personal strengths, offer a random act of kindness today, such as:
  • Paying for the customer behind you at the coffee shop
  • Complimenting the first 3 people you talk to today
  • Letting someone else have the closer parking spot
  • Making an extra lunch for a person in need
  • Sending a thank-you email to a coworker who deserves recognition

Reflecting on your strengths reminds you that you have important positive qualities. The goal of this reminder is to increase your confidence and self-esteem — and ultimately fill up your cup.
